Conflux is multi site inter disciplinary exhibition based in Williamsburg, NYC curated by Christina Ray and Sarah Pace.
For Conflux I spent some time in New York prior to the exhibition searching for objects discarded or lost on the streets of Williamsburg. The first object I was drawn to was a squashed silver ring left on the sidewalk on a bollard. I took the silver ring to a jewellers, had it cleaned, reformed and engraved with the words “repaired by Hilary Jack”.
I also found and repaired several broken umbrellas and two pairs of trousers, a mans pair and a womens pair discarded in the road outside a drycleaners. I took the trousers to the dry cleaners and had them cleaned. I returned all the objects to their original locations on a walking tour of the area with members of the public, artists and gallery curators Sarah Pace and Christina Ray.
