Creating the Countryside is a major exhibition at Compton Verney Warwickshire which includes historic and contemporary artists such as Thomas Gainsborough, George Stubbs, Grayson Perry, Sigrid Holmwood, Hilary Jack, Matt Collishaw, Turner, Graham Sutherland and more. Curated by Verity Elson and Dr Rosemary Shirley in 2017 the exhibition examines our relationship with the countryside, provoking reflection on the artistic, social and political forces that have played an important role in forming successive generations’ perceptions of this ‘green and pleasant land’.
I am proud to be represented in the exhibition by a new commission Host, and two sculptures, Turquoise Bag in a Tree, and Souvenir. You can watch a short tour of the exhibiton here
I am acknowledged and represented in the accompanying publication, Creating the Countryside the Rural Idyll Past and Present edited by curator Verity Elson and Dr Rosemary Shirley. Creating the Countryside is available from Compton Verney shop, at Paul Holberton Books and Amazon
