In 2017 I was awarded The Spinningfields Art Commission 2016/17. A short film of the commission by Steve Ilse can by seen below. Host has been acquired by Manchester Art Gallery for their collection and can be seen on long term display the main Atrium.

Produced by Castlefield Gallery ‘Host’ comprises of nine bronze casts of wild plants that typically grow in forgotten urban spaces. Emerging from the fabric of buildings, foyers and pavements across Spinningfields, ‘Host’ highlights the politics of public and private space and represents an unexpected counterpoint to the built environment, using the traditional material of memorial public sculpture.

Spinningfields Art Commission 2016 promotes the work of the Manchester Homelessness Charter, with each bronze sculpture being auctioned to support the Big Change Fund. In 2018 Host was acquired for the permenant collection at Manchester at Manchester Art Gallery. It is on long term display in The Atrium.

In 2017 Host was acquired for the collection at Manchester Art Gallery and can be seen on long term exhibtion in The Atrium.

Its new location references the previous function of the space as a public walkway, once open to the elements and surrounding urban environment, where weeds grow from cracks in pavings and the walls of neighbouring buildings.
